Rajiv Kumar Sharma is B.Com. from MDU, Rohtak and joined as Preventive Officer of Customs in Mumbai Customs Zone in 1991. He was promoted as Assistant Commissioner of Indirect Taxes and Customs in 2014 and has taken voluntary retirement (April 2022) from IRS (Customs and Central Excise) after serving for nearly 31 years in various capacities. He is known to be an outstanding officer with experience in various customs, central excise, service tax and GST formations. While posted in Gurugram Central Excise, he was entrusted with the task of assisting the Commissioner in adjudication of central excise and service tax matters of Commissioner’s competency, where he assisted the Commissioner in disposal of more than 500 cases of central excise and service tax. He has also worked in GST Policy Wing, CBIC and was closely involved in GST policy making and resolving various issues faced by the industry in GST refunds and registrations. Rajiv Kumar Sharma thus has rich experience in multifarious capacities with a good mix to both policy-making and its actual application and good liaison network in the department. He has been actively working in field of tax advisory and consultancy for Corporate Houses and business consultants after his voluntary retirement.
